We are supporting a growing environmental and engineering consultancy expanding its specialist fire safety and compliance capability. They are looking to appoint an experienced Dual Competent Fire Safety Consultant & Health & Safety Risk Assessor to deliver advanced risk assessments and technical consultancy across complex and higher-risk environments. This role sits within a highly technical compliance team and offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, including higher-risk residential buildings, commercial portfolios, and specialist infrastructure environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver advanced Fire Risk Assessments across complex and higher-risk premises
- Conduct general Health & Safety risk assessments aligned with UK legislation
- Provide specialist fire safety consultancy, including evacuation strategies, compartmentation principles, and fire management arrangements
- Interpret and apply current legislation, British Standards, and industry guidance
- Produce clear, defensible technical reports with prioritised action plans
- Provide technical advice and professional guidance to clients and stakeholders
- Support quality assurance processes and maintain accreditation standards
- Liaise with enforcing authorities, fire services, contractors, and duty holders
- Mentor and support less experienced assessors where appropriate
Requirements:
- Demonstrable advanced competence in Fire Risk Assessment and fire safety consultancy
- Registration on the National Fire Risk Assessors Register (NFRAR) at Advanced level (or working towards equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, including Fire Safety Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, and Building Safety Act 2022
- Experience assessing complex buildings, ideally including higher-risk residential environments
- Health & Safety risk assessment capability with recognised qualification (e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent)
- Excellent reporting and stakeholder communication skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Desirable:
- Professional memberships (IFE, IFSM, IOSH or similar)
- Consultancy or engineering background
- Experience contributing to fire strategy or technical compliance programmes
