Elvet Recruitment is proud to be working with a forward-thinking property and energy management company who are looking for a Finance Assistant for their office in the North East This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our team. This is an entry-level position, ideal for someone with a strong interest in finance and accounts. While no formal qualifications are required, previous experience in a finance or accounts role—or a clear passion for starting a career in this field—will be highly valued. You will work closely with our Finance team to support day-to-day accounting and administrative tasks, helping to ensure smooth and accurate financial operations. What You’ll Be Doing: * Assist with processing invoices, expenses, and payments * Support bank reconciliations and basic bookkeeping (using Xero) * Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems * Help with credit control and chasing outstanding payments * Input data into accounting software and spreadsheets * Assist with month-end procedures and reporting * General administrative tasks to support the finance team What We’re Looking For: * Proficiency in Xero accounting software (or strong aptitude to learn) * A genuine interest in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping * Strong attention to detail and accuracy * Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks * Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word * Willingness to learn and grow within a finance role * Prior experience in an office or accounts environment is desirable but not essential Role Details: * Up to £28,000 depending on experience * Career development opportunities * Friendly and supportive work environment This is a permanent position and Elvet Recruitment Limited will be acting as an employment agency for permanent recruitment on behalf of our client.
