Elvet Recruitment have been appointed to recruit a Buyer on behalf of a national house builder in the North East. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well established regional team delivering high quality residential developments, with strong long term prospects and a clear progression structure.

About the role

As a Buyer, you will play a key role in the procurement and supply chain management of materials and services across multiple live sites. You will work closely with the commercial and technical teams to ensure cost effective purchasing, accurate scheduling and timely delivery to support smooth site operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage procurement of materials and services in line with site requirements
  • Raise and issue purchase orders and maintain accurate procurement records
  • Liaise with site teams to understand programme needs and resolve supply issues
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate competitive rates
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with specifications
  • Support value engineering exercises and identify cost saving opportunities
  • Coordinate material call offs and ensure timely delivery to site
  • Assist with maintaining and updating buying schedules
  • Work closely with commercial and technical teams to support project delivery
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement processes

About you

  • Experience as a Buyer or Assistant Buyer within construction or a related industry
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across several live sites
  • Good negotiation skills and confidence dealing with suppliers
  • Strong attention to detail and familiarity with procurement systems
  • A proactive approach and ability to work within a fast paced environment

Salary and benefits

  • Salary is dependent on experience and typically ranges from £40,000 to £50,000, based on experience
