Elvet Recruitment have been appointed to recruit an Operative for the regional division of a £75m waste company in Teesside.

Main duties will include:

  • Operate equipment in line with permit, procedures, and consent to discharge.
  • Manage the loading and offloading of company vehicles and those belonging to third party customers.
  • Operate all pumps, valves, and other equipment.
  • Control tank stock levels.
  • Transfer materials between tanks.
  • Work alongside other site operators and processes.
  • Cleaning of tanks and vessels.
  • Control all processes to achieve maximum efficiency and optimum quality of oil recovered.
  • Take appropriate action with respect to waste acceptance and rectifying any problems.
  • Ensure that site is kept clean and tidy with hoses stored correctly; any spillages cleaned immediately, and site kept free of rubbish and obstructions.
  • Actively participate in the improvement of site housekeeping standards by dealing with issues within personal span of control immediately and reporting all other issues to site management.
  • Responsible for performing maintenance and safety checks on site tanker and ensuring that site tanker remains clean and tidy.
  • The operator will be accountable to the Plant Supervisor, Plant Manager and Technical Site Co-ordinator.

To be considered, applicants should have:

  • Forklift Licence.
  • Experience working within a Waste Treatment Plant or Waste Transfer station.
  • Experience in dealing with hazardous waste is desirable but not essential.
  • Self-starter who can deliver to deadlines.
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills.

Benefits include:

  • £26,500 based on experience.
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
  • An additional 1 day holiday per year of service up to 25.
  • Yearly pay rise in line with inflation.
