Elvet Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a highly respected regional construction and property services business to recruit a Communications Specialist on a 1-year fixed-term maternity cover contract, in their County Durham office. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established organisation with a strong regional presence and an excellent reputation across the North East and Yorkshire.

This is a varied and hands-on role where you will work closely with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to support the delivery of engaging communications, PR campaigns, and digital content across the business. The successful candidate will play a key role in generating positive media coverage, supporting social media activity, and coordinating communications initiatives across live construction projects and wider business operations. The role offers excellent variety and exposure across multiple divisions, making it an ideal opportunity for an experienced communications or PR professional looking to further develop their career within a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Please note, this role will involve regular travel to construction sites and project locations across the North East and Yorkshire, therefore a full UK driving licence is essential.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Working closely with teams across the business to support content planning and PR activity
  • Generating engaging and accurate content for press releases, social media, internal communications, and website updates
  • Coordinating approvals with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders where required
  • Organising and supporting PR opportunities, events, site visits, and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Visiting construction sites across the North East and Yorkshire to manage media activity and gather content for communications planning
  • Supporting the management and growth of the company’s LinkedIn and wider social media channels
  • Coordinating and monitoring media outreach activity using media monitoring platforms
  • Securing positive media coverage and supporting ongoing PR campaigns
  • Ensuring all communications and content consistently align with company brand guidelines
  • Drafting website copy and supporting website content management through internal CMS systems
  • Working collaboratively with the wider Communications and Corporate Affairs team on campaigns and business initiatives
  • Managing multiple deadlines and priorities within a fast-paced communications environment
  • Supporting wider communications and marketing activity across the business as required

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience within a communications, PR, marketing, or corporate affairs environment
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce engaging and accurate content
  • Previous experience managing social media and PR content creation
  • Experience using LinkedIn and other digital communication platforms
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office packages and digital systems
  • Previous experience using website CMS platforms such as Umbraco would be advantageous
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
  • Ability to work independently using initiative as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Relevant qualification within PR, Communications, Marketing, Business, or similar discipline would be desirable

Role Information:

  • £32,000 - £35,000 DOE
