Elvet Recruitment are recruiting a Senior Project Manager on behalf of a leading UK construction contractor to oversee major building projects from contract award through to successful completion in the North East. This role requires a strong leader capable of driving programme, quality, safety and commercial performance while maintaining excellent relationships with clients, consultants and the wider project team.

As Senior Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the delivery of live construction projects, ensuring production targets, profitability, safety standards and quality expectations are consistently achieved. You will lead site teams, manage subcontractors, coordinate with design and commercial colleagues, and act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead project delivery from start to finish, ensuring programme, quality and safety targets are met
  • Liaise closely with clients, design teams and internal commercial staff
  • Develop and monitor construction programmes, reporting weekly progress
  • Prepare and review RAMS, Method Statements and Safety Plans in line with CDM requirements
  • Provide leadership and support to Site Supervisors, trainees and support staff
  • Manage labour, subcontractors and material procurement
  • Chair subcontractor meetings and produce accurate minutes and reports
  • Oversee day‑to‑day planning, problem solving and site coordination
  • Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and HSE standards
  • Manage snagging, commissioning and handover to deliver a defect‑free building
  • Assist with subcontractor selection and scope definition
  • Identify and report contractual risks to senior management
About You
  • Must have: SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid
  • Ideally will have: HNC / HND or Degree in relevant field
  • Proven supervisory or management experience within the construction industry
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead teams and engage effectively with clients and subcontractors
  • Solid understanding of health & safety and CDM regulations
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and drive productivity on complex projects
  • Degree‑qualified in a relevant construction discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • A collaborative, professional and accountable approach, with the determination to deliver high‑quality outcomes
