Elvet Recruitment is delighted to be working with a highly regarded contractor who is seeking a Public Liaison Officer to support a live project in the North East Lincolnshire / Humberside area. With over 40 years of experience, this contractor has successfully delivered a wide range of civil engineering and building projects across the UK, covering key sectors such as highways, bridges, public realm, and rail.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative and forward‑thinking team, playing a key role in ensuring clear communication between site operations and the local community. The Public Liaison Officer will act as the main point of contact for residents, businesses, and stakeholders, helping to manage relationships, communicate project updates, and ensure any concerns are handled professionally and efficiently. This role is initially offered on a part‑time basis (3 days per week, 10:00am - 3:00pm), making it ideal for someone seeking flexibility. The position is site‑based in Lincolnshire, with an anticipated start date of May 2026.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for members of the public, residents, and local businesses regarding ongoing works
  • Providing clear, timely updates on project progress, roadworks, and potential disruptions
  • Handling enquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Maintaining strong relationships with local stakeholders, councils, and community groups
  • Supporting the site team by communicating community concerns and helping to resolve issues quickly
  • Assisting with the preparation and distribution of newsletters, letters, and public notices
  • Attending site meetings where required to stay informed on project updates
  • Keeping accurate records of all communications and enquiries
  • Ensuring all communication aligns with company standards and project requirements
  • Promoting a positive image of the company within the local community

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a customer‑facing, community engagement, or liaison role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with a wide range of people
  • A calm, professional approach when handling queries or complaints
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
  • A proactive and approachable attitude
  • Experience within construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects is advantageous but not essential
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
