Elvet Recruitment have been appointed to recruit an Engineer, responsible for supporting and assisting the Regional Technical team and operating team to deliver the regional and Group Business plan, commercial objectives, budgets and future growth requirements, whilst mentoring junior members of the team.
Main duties will include
- Provide technical and engineering support to the land and development team during feasibility studies, leading the preparation of site viability reports in line with current regulatory requirements for residential development.
- Identify the need for external consultants, agree fees, scope of service, timescales and deliverability.
- Manage relationships with consultants to ensure information is delivered within agreed timescales, aligned with programme requirements and compliant with National House Building Council standards.
- Be aware of and act upon commercial implications relating to planning and architectural design, civil and structural engineering design, geotechnical and ground remediation strategies, and statutory services including new supplies and diversions.
- Assist in the tendering, set‑up and establishment of on‑site management companies, ensuring group procedures are implemented and all legal aspects of relevant agreements are met.
- Interact with internal departments, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors as required to achieve Building Regulations and warranty approval, and to secure satisfactory conditions discharge.
- Assist in preparing key status reports and updates on all KPIs relating to the Technical function.
Co‑ordinate the appointment of utilities, including designs, quotations and required agreements.
Manage the Adoption process.
- Provide engineering support to site teams and internal departments. Attend site and lead relevant technical meetings relating to procurement and approval of site infrastructure.
To be considered, applicants must
- A relevant qualification or strong experience in technical design and or civil engineering
- Knowledge of engineering requirements within the housebuilding industry and the legal framework associated with technical standards and requirements
- Knowledge and application of Highway Design Standards, Sewers for Adoption, Building Regulations, British Standards, Auto CAD Strong technical and legal understanding with financial and commercial awareness
- Good organisational skills
- Flexible and adaptable to changing requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Awareness of type approval with NHBC, LABC and SBD Numerical and literate
