Elvet Recruitment has been appointed to recruit for a Cost & Bonus Surveyor to join a well‑established housing developer, covering their sites across Co. Durham and surrounding areas. This role plays a critical part in the financial and operational performance of our construction sites, with a specific focus on labour cost tracking, bonus scheme administration, and subcontractor payments. It could be suited to an existing Cost & Bonus Surveyor, or equally, a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant QS looking to learn a new position. In addition, this opportunity may also appeal to a Site Manager seeking to transition into a new role, or someone experienced in measuring works such as a time‑served QS.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile and maintain bonus targets for Bricklayers, Joiners, and Painters, including adjustments due to changes in build processes or specifications.
- Evaluate claims submitted against bonus targets, including the assessment of daywork claims from Labour‑Only Subcontractor Bricklayers and Joiners, and certify payments accordingly.
- Assess daywork claims from Direct Labour Joiners and Painters, and calculate bonus payments to be included in weekly wages.
- Record and monitor weekly build costs based on site production data.
- Report weekly site labour hours and bonus payments for payroll processing.
- Review subcontractor payment applications and issue payment certifications in line with project progress and contractual terms.
Qualifications and Experience
- Background in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, or similar construction‑related discipline.
- Strong understanding of labour‑only subcontracting and bonus schemes.
- Proficiency in construction cost tracking and reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Experience in the residential housing sector is preferred.
