Elvet Recruitment has partnered with a well-established specialist contractor in the construction sector to find a Finance Manager for their County Durham team. This is an exciting opportunity to grow with a respected business known for high-quality workmanship and delivering complex projects across residential, commercial, and bespoke environments.
Our client is a trusted provider of specialist craft and installation services, working closely with contractors, developers, designers, and private clients. With a reputation for quality, coordination, and reliability, they offer a hands-on working culture, experienced leadership, and a commitment to developing talent.
As Finance Manager, you'll be a key player in the successful delivery of projects, ensuring precision-led financial management and collaborating with teams to maintain high standards from start to finish.
Main Duties- Oversee preparation and delivery of monthly and annual financial reporting, including management accounts, balance sheets, and P&L statements.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and statutory requirements.
- Manage VAT returns, PAYE, payroll, and other regulatory filings.
- Take responsibility for accounts payable/receivable and cash flow monitoring.
- Provide financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to senior management.
- Maintain and improve financial systems and processes.
- Lead, support, and develop a small finance team, maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
- Proven experience in a senior or leadership finance role.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Strong experience in management reporting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial controls.
- Commercially astute, able to communicate financial info to non-finance stakeholders.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
- Confident working with senior management and key decision-makers.
- Experience in construction is a plus, but not essential.
- Hours: Monday-Friday, flexible working.
- Location: Office-based, County Durham.
- Salary: £50,000 DOE + annual company bonus.
- Type: Permanent position.
