Elvet Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a well-established and highly regarded residential contractor to recruit an Assistant Buyer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing procurement team and support the delivery of multiple new build housing developments across the region. About the Role: As Assistant Buyer, you’ll play a key role in the procurement of materials and hired plant for a range of residential projects. You’ll work closely with suppliers, site teams, and internal departments to ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing that supports project delivery. Key Responsibilities: * Assist in procuring materials and plant hire for new build housing developments. * Take off and schedule materials from working drawings where required. * Place orders for bulk materials and respond to site requisitions. * Liaise with suppliers to ensure best value and maintain strong relationships. * Support the preparation and updating of materials budgets. * Contribute to KPI reporting (e.g. site damage, plant usage, waste). * Manage your own workload effectively on a daily and weekly basis. About You: We’re looking for someone with: * Previous experience in a buying or procurement role within construction. * Strong understanding of take-offs, scheduling, and budgeting. * Ideally, experience with a house builder or large construction firm. * Alternatively, relevant product knowledge from working in a builders’ or materials merchant environment.
