The Headmaster and CEO of Eltham College Family of Schools is seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to the position of Teacher of Economics. The position involves responsibility for teaching Economics at A-Level. The successful candidate will be a graduate of a good university, able to demonstrate excellent subject knowledge, with a proven track record of both high academic standards and success combined with an ability to enthuse pupils of all ages. Experience in a similarly high-performing academic environment will be a distinct advantage. Experienced and newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply, as well as graduates interested in training to become a teacher. Although this is a full-time position, we would consider applicants who wanted to apply as part of a job-share.

The Economics department comprises three members of staff and is housed in the North Wing of the main quad. There are two dedicated classrooms, each equipped with a high definition screen that will connect to either a desktop or wireless device. There is also a large departmental base with office and storage facilities. At A Level, we currently follow the AQA specification. The subject is one of the most subscribed subjects at A level with eight sets in the Sixth Form. The department has a strong track record in supporting students who wish to go on to study Economics and related courses at university, with a number going on to Cambridge and Oxford in the past three years, and others going on to LSE, Warwick, and UCL.

There is an active, student-led Pol-Econ Society that meets on a weekly basis. Students also participate in a variety of essay competitions (RES, Marshall Society, IEA), the Wharton Investment Challenge, attend public lectures at the LSE, and there is an extension group for those who wish to develop their study beyond the A Level syllabus.

Since, girls have been able to join Years 3 and 7, mirroring the Sixth Form which has been coeducational for over 45 years. The school places an equal emphasis on academic, pastoral and co-curricular excellence and has an outstanding reputation in all three areas as well as for the friendly, unpretentious nature of daily life.

A highly competitive salary is available, together with a clear programme of staff development and opportunities for promotion. Accommodation may also be available.
