We’re a small, fast-moving auction house looking for a flexible, enthusiastic and hard-working person to play a key role in a tight-knit team. Learn more about us at elstob.co.uk.

What you’ll do

  • Administration & Finance: Use our back-office auction system daily to find information and print standard documents; Enter routine data (new clients, property receipts, client bids, etc.); Take credit/debit card payments and reconcile them accurately; Maintain orderly filing and archiving systems; Order office supplies and keep equipment stocked
  • Client Service & Reception: Be the first point of contact in person and by phone—welcome visitors and handle enquiries; Communicate clearly with clients by email/phone/in person, passing information on as needed; Manage your own inbox and the primary info@ inbox, responding and triaging promptly; Keep reception and office areas efficient, presentable and welcoming
  • Shipping & Logistics: Liaise with packing and shipping partners; prepare items and paperwork for collection; Track buyer collections and returns of unsold items; chase as needed
  • Saleroom Support: Assist with the auction cycle: lotting up, packing/unpacking, and organising stock; Play an active role on viewing and sale days to ensure smooth running

What you’ll bring

  • Confident communicator with clear written English and a friendly manner
  • Comfortable learning software systems (training provided) and using MS Office
  • Numerate, organised, and calm under time pressure
