What we are looking for
We are seeking an ambitious Business Development Director to lead and grow our Public Sector practice. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for building Elsewhen’s public sector presence as a leading AI and transformation partner for central and local government through relationship-led business development, strategic positioning, and new logo acquisition. This is a hands-on role suited to someone comfortable personally driving outreach, relationship-building, opportunity shaping and commercial conversations in an early-stage environment. This is a unique opportunity to drive the expansion of a key growth area for the business, building upon our established presence on the G-Cloud 14, AI DPS, and DOS7 frameworks. Your leadership, sales acumen, and deep industry network will be critical as we mature our public sector footprint.
Things you will be doing
- Drive Revenue Growth: Take full ownership of the public sector sales cycle – from initial prospecting and qualification to bid management and deal closure – with a clear focus on achieving ambitious revenue targets.
- Scale the Pipeline: Develop and execute the sales strategy to expand our pipeline of high-value opportunities within key government departments and agencies.
- Win High-Value Bids: Identify, shape and convert opportunities across public sector accounts, leveraging frameworks such as G-Cloud, DOS and AI DPS as routes to market.
- Deepen Strategic Relationships: Cultivate and nurture relationships with senior leaders and departmental decision-makers across your target accounts, becoming a trusted advisor on AI-driven transformation and operational productivity.
- Shape and Sell Our Value Proposition: Articulate the Elsewhen proposition for public sector buyers, clearly communicating how our AI-powered solutions in LLM, Generative AI, and Machine Learning can solve their most pressing challenges and drive sales.
- Represent Elsewhen: Act as the public face of our public sector practice at key industry events and TechUK sessions to build our brand, generate leads, and enhance our position as an innovator in the sector.
Your Experience
- A proven track record of exceeding sales targets by building strategic relationships with senior civil servants and departmental heads within the UK public sector.
- 10+ years of experience managing complex sales cycles from initial prospecting to deal closure, specifically within central and/or local government.
- Demonstrable expertise in successfully writing and winning bids through major government procurement frameworks (e.g., G-Cloud, DOS).
- Experience in scaling a business pipeline within a digital consultancy or technology services environment.
- Strong understanding of digital transformation, AI, data, and modern engineering practices.
- Strong commercial presence with the ability to build credibility quickly with senior public sector stakeholders.
