Overview
As Strategic Advisor, you guide journal editors and institutional leaders on quality, indexing readiness, and ethics within Elsevier’s Digital Commons. You influence portfolio journals and partner with product, consulting, and sales teams to deliver sustainable, high-impact publishing solutions. You address emerging trends like AI in scholarly publishing and support integrity across journals. This role combines expert advisory work with training, reporting, and representation at industry events, shaping the future of open access journals. You will work across cross-functional teams to advance high-quality, compliant publishing on a premier platform.
Responsibilities
- Advise journals on indexing readiness (Scopus/Web of Science), quality improvement, and long-term sustainability.
- Coach editors on publishing best practices, research integrity, ethics, and AI-related publishing challenges.
- Develop performance reports, impact analyses, and strategic recommendations.
- Deliver training sessions, workshops, and presentations for editorial teams and institutions.
- Represent Digital Commons at editorial board meetings, conferences, and industry events.
- Partner with product, sales, and consulting teams to identify client needs and drive service excellence.
- Contribute to best practice guides, onboarding materials, and service development initiatives.
Key requirements
- PhD in a relevant field with at least 5 years of research experience
- Fluent in English and Arabic (written and spoken)
- Experience in academic publishing, scholarly communications, or journal management
- Knowledge of Scopus, Web of Science, research integrity, and publishing ethics
- Strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills
- Experience with Editorial Manager or similar manuscript submission system is a plus
