About the Team

We build Search and AI platform capabilities that power search, AI‑assisted discovery, and recommendation experiences across Elsevier’s product portfolio. Our work supports researchers, clinicians, and innovators worldwide find, understand, and use knowledge from Elsevier’s content by transforming complex information into connected, searchable and actionable knowledge.

This role sits within the AI content group, which ensures content from Elsevier’s Data Platform is made available in a clean and enriched form for use in Search and AI use cases. The team plays a critical role in enabling other teams to build impactful AI and search-driven products by providing reliable, high-quality content at scale.

About the role:

As Product Manager for the AI Content group, you will help shape how content is ingested, structured, and prepared to ensure it can be effectively and responsibly used in downstream Search and AI applications. Beyond processing raw content, you will ensure content is enriched by relevant signals such as semantic structure, rights, provenance or other trust signals.

You will own the roadmap for content ingestion and work closely with engineering to build reliable and scalable data ingestion platform capabilities and with data owners to improve content quality, discoverability, and reuse across Elsevier’s product portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Articulate the vision and set the roadmap for AI content group aligned with shared Search & AI platform OKRs
  • Work closely with engineering leadership to evolve and deliver scalable ingestion workflows, balancing flexibility with long term maintainability
  • Own AI content ingestion initiatives end-to-end, translating internal product needs into clear data and engineering requirements and supporting delivery
  • Balance input from multiple stakeholders and make clear, practical trade‑offs using data to guide prioritisation and product roadmap decisions
  • Partner with upstream and downstream teams to define and align on data quality, contracts, and service expectations, making sure content meets the need of downstream Search and AI use cases
  • Drive insights on the content catalogue to improve discoverability and adoption: what exists, how it is used, what are reuse opportunities

  • Experience working on data platform or data-intensive environments serving multiple stakeholders or clients, and collaborating with engineers and data scientists
  • Understanding of how content flows through data systems; familiarity with data or processing technologies such as Airflow, Spark, EMR or similar tools
  • Understanding of how data supports AI, search, or recommendation use cases and how to assess and improve data quality
  • Ability to work across multiple teams, balancing competing internal stakeholder needs, and make thoughtful data-informed prioritisation decisions
  • Strong communication skills, and ability to communicate clearly with a range of technical and non‑technical stakeholders
