Senior Scientific Editor, Cell Genomics (Cell Press)
About the Role
We are seeking an outstanding full‑time Senior Scientific Editor to join the Cell Genomics team.
Candidates should have deep expertise in any area covered by the journal and bring substantial editorial experience, enthusiasm for science, and an interest in engaging with advances across genetics and genomics.
As a member of the Cell Genomics editorial team, you will play a central role in identifying and developing exciting science for publication.
Primary responsibilities include recruiting strong submissions, evaluating research manuscripts, selecting expert referees, identifying timely emerging areas for commissioned content, and working closely with authors throughout the review process.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate submissions rigorously against the journal’s requirements; support a culture of collaboration, creativity, and high standards.
- Build global networks and commission exciting papers within the journal’s scope.
- Collaborate with the Cell Press editorial family, production and operations teams, and business development and marketing to support cross‑journal initiatives and share best practices.
- Represent Cell Genomics and Cell Press at conferences and public forums, showcasing the journal’s impact and engaging with the broader scientific community.
- Travel domestically and internationally to conferences and research institutes to engage with researchers and inform editorial and strategic decisions.
- Work with editorial teams of relevant Cell Press journals.
Qualifications
- A Ph. D. in a field related to the topics covered by Cell Genomics.
- At least 5 years of editorial experience.
- Strong critical thinking about a wide range of scientific issues.
