Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the planning, distribution and execution of commodity products to companies and institutions that have exposure to commodities.
- To propose, develop and implement a plan to develop a customer base with a specific requirement around the development of Chinese owned entities, both SOE and independently owned energy/petrochemical companies.
- To propose, develop and implement a plan to develop a customer base which are not primarily energy companies but companies with a high cost of energy, such as manufacturing and transportation.
- To develop the business within the overall business plan of the companies in conjunction with other companies and business lines.
- To manage the business in respect of its development, staff, risk and controls and to ensure it operates within the standards set by companies, Regulators and Exchanges.
- To develop customers for the benefit of the business, the product line and company Group.
Marketing & Sales:
- In accordance with the management and colleagues to develop and implement a marketing strategy for geographical areas, the development of products and services and different customer categories.
- Ensure that the activity develops in conjunction with the strategy of company, most notably with Fixed Income & Commodities and Global Energy & Commodities.
- Ensure that conduct of business is professional at all times from both a regulatory and commercial perspective.
- Develop where possible all opportunities to distribute other products offered by the Group.
- Ensure that the plans are clearly explained and understood by all staff & colleagues.
Customer Service:
- Ensure the conduct of business is professional at all times from a regulatory standpoint as well as a professional one.
- Ensure the delivery is at the highest level of customer service to all accounts by maximising the use of all products and services.
- Ensure regular contact is made with customers including the planning of customer visits.
- Build and manage long term relationships with clients.
- Motivate administrative staff and other support departments to ensure the customer service standards meet the customer expectations.
- Ensuring that all customer trades are checked on a daily basis and that there are no outstanding trades or disputes.
- Ensure that customer contributions are properly recorded.
Credit:
- To ensure that all customers have sufficient facilities for any trades undertaken.
- To ensure that credit risks are monitored on a daily basis in terms of margining and that the staff help to facilitate the collection of funds when required.
- To ensure that for all customers comments are provided for the customer reviews on an annual basis.
Prospecting:
- Identify and segment all prospects and work to define and develop appropriate products for the customers.
- Create and suggest plans in terms of the creation of new customer opportunities including promotion, advertising, sponsorship, conference attendance and business trips.
Product Knowledge:
- Ensuring that you know the features and are able to demonstrate all products and services offered by Commodities and the wider company Group.
- Are able to translate product/service features into benefits for the customers.
- Stay aware of our strengths and weaknesses with respect to our competitors.
- Propose and structure new products when required.
Client knowledge:
- Ensure that you understand most aspects of the clients business, especially those relating to trading and credit.
- Review credit applications, write executive summaries and bring to the attention of the management and credit department anything that could affect our risk profile with the customer.
Requirements:
- Ready to consult but be prepared to be decisive and take final and sole responsibility for actions.
- Chinese speaker.
- In depth knowledge of Chinese energy and petrochemical marketplace.
- Strong negotiator and excellent communicator.
