ABOUT THE ROLE

The role supports fathers to increase accountability for their behavior, develop healthy relationships and parenting practices, and address factors contributing to family conflict and violence. Through a combination of individual case management, group education, community engagement and service coordination, the position works to improve outcomes for families while maintaining the safety and wellbeing of women and children as the primary consideration.

The role applies trauma-informed, culturally responsive, family systems and accountability-centered approaches within a domestic and family violence framework. Particular emphasis is placed on supporting fathers from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds who may experience settlement challenges, trauma, social isolation, unemployment, housing instability and changing family dynamics.

The Case Manager is responsible for delivering culturally responsive case management and group-based interventions to fathers who use, or are at risk of suing, domestic and family violence

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Deliver culturally responsive case management services to fathers who use, or are at risk of using, domestic and family violence.
  • Conduct intake, assessment, case planning and ongoing risk assessment processes.
  • Develop individualised case management plans and behaviour change goals.
  • Support fathers to recognise and understand the impact of violence on women, children and family relationships.
  • Assist participants to identify and address factors contributing to violence, including trauma, settlement challenges, unemployment, financial stress, social isolation and family conflict.
  • Deliver interventions focused on accountability, respectful relationships, emotional regulation, healthy communication and positive parenting.
  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate culturally responsive Connected Fathers workshops and community education sessions covering domestic and family violence, respectful relationships, parenting, emotional regulation, communication, trauma, settlement and healthy family relationships.
  • Coordinate referrals and support participants to access housing, employment, health, legal and family support services.
  • Support participants to access relevant services and community resources.
  • Build partnerships with referral agencies, service providers and CALD communities to promote the program and strengthen referral pathways.
  • Contribute to program development, evaluation, culturally appropriate resources and continuous improvement.

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications and Training Requirements:

Essential

  • Degree, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services, Counselling, Human Services or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

Desirable

  • Domestic and Family Violence training.
  • Training in working with men who use violence.
  • Family Systems and Structure Family Therapy training.
  • Trauma-Informed Practice traning.
  • Motivational Interviewing training.
  • Group facilitation training.
  • Risk assessment and safety planning training.

Skills and Capabilities:

Required skills

  • Strong ability to engage and work effectively with fathers who use, or are at risk of using, domestic and family violence.
  • Strong understanding of domestic and family violence, coercive control and its impact on women and children.
  • Ability to build rapport while maintaining an accountability-centred approach.
  • Strong risk assessment, safety planning, case management and service coordination skills.
  • Ability to facilitate group programs focused on parenting, behaviour change and healthy relationships.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, including working with CALD communities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client management systems, including Salesforce.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and contribute effectively to a team.

Required experience

  • Experience delivering case management services in community, family, settlement, parenting, child and family wellbeing, or domestic and family violence settings.
  • Experience facilitating group programs, workshops or educational sessions.
  • Experience in assessment, case planning, service coordination and referral management.
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
  • Experience supporting people with complex needs, including trauma, settlement challenges, housing instability, financial hardship, family conflict and social isolation.
  • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external service providers.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience working with men who use, or are at risk of using, violence.
  • Experience within domestic and family violence, family support, parenting, men's behavior changes or child protection settings.
  • Experience applying Family Systems pr Structural approaches in practice.

This role is offered as a permanent full-time position (1.0 FTE) and is classified at SCHADS Award Level 4.
