About the Team
The Fundraising and Engagement Unit ensures a strategic and coordinated approach to our internal and external representation and enables the organisation to meet our strategic objectives through strategy development, advocacy, brand positioning, fundraising and stakeholder relationships. As part of the Fundraising and Engagement Unit, the Prevention team delivers our comprehensive strategies aimed at reducing the impact of cancer. These include strategies to reduce the risk of cancer occurring, population screening to detect cancer and pre-cancerous lesions as early as possible, advocacy and public policy.
About the Role
The SA Comprehensive Cancer Network (SACCaN), led by the Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health (CEIH), will bring together South Australia’s leading cancer researchers, public health experts, clinicians, patients, carers and technology as well as promoting the best prevention programs, in a coordinated network. This role will work closely with the Prevention Programs Lead (SACCaN), Cancer Council SA’s prevention team and key stakeholders to deliver a suite of initiatives focusing primarily on cancer screening and early detection. The development and implementation of the SACCaN prevention pillar is critical to ensuring SA leads the country in providing a fully comprehensive Cancer Network. The position will be underpinned by equity and best practice cancer prevention.
Key responsibilities include:
- Applying health promotion/public health knowledge to coordinate the successful implementation and evaluation of the SACCaN workplan and annual business plans
- Completing project administration including tracking and producing milestone activity reports
- Fostering strong partnerships with stakeholders across primary health and community settings to enhance program impact and sustainability
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver presentations and engage with stakeholders and community to promote cancer prevention and early detection
Skills And Experiences About You
You will bring:
- Knowledge and experience designing, delivering, and evaluating health promotion programs
- Experience in cancer prevention or screening will be highly regarded
- Experience working with diverse communities, particularly First Nations and CALD communities including implementing co-design approaches
- Confidence in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with external stakeholders across a range of sectors
- Excellent communication and public speaking/presenting skills
The role is a new position, made possible through a 3-year funding agreement with Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health. It is being offered as a full-time role, until June 2029. Part-time employment may be considered – please indicate if this is your preference in your cover letter.
