About the Team
The Fundraising and Engagement Unit ensures a strategic and coordinated approach to our internal and external representation and enables the organisation to meet our strategic objectives through strategy development, advocacy, brand positioning, fundraising and stakeholder relationships. As part of the Fundraising and Engagement Unit, the Prevention team delivers our comprehensive strategies aimed at reducing the impact of cancer. These include strategies to reduce the risk of cancer occurring, population screening to detect cancer and pre-cancerous lesions as early as possible, advocacy and public policy.
First Nations Programs
CCSA First Nations Programs in practice is a First Nations led model of care, based on emerging literature relating to best practice, and the practice wisdom of our First Nations community. Our work builds on the knowledge and experience gained in delivering services which include development of First Nations Cancer Care Plan. Make a meaningful difference in First Nations cancer outcomes. We are seeking a passionate and experienced First Nations Cancer Educator to lead the development and delivery of culturally appropriate cancer education and training programs across South Australia. Working closely with the First Nations Program Manager, you will engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, leaders and organisations to increase cancer awareness, reduce stigma, support treatment participation, and strengthen local community capacity.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and deliver culturally responsive cancer education and training programs using adult learning principles.
- Facilitate community workshops and training sessions across priority regions.
- Build strong relationships with First Nations communities, leaders and stakeholders.
- Implement engagement strategies to increase participation and community impact.
- Support and upskill local First Nations people to provide ongoing community support.
- Develop training resources and maintain accurate training, attendance and evaluation records.
- Monitor and evaluate program quality, effectiveness and cultural integrity.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement and organisational objectives.
Skills And Experiences About You
You are a strong communicator and relationship builder with a genuine commitment to improving First Nations health outcomes. You will bring:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (essential).
- Qualifications in health promotion, public health, a health-related discipline, or equivalent experience (desirable).
- Experience working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and communities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop partnerships and engage stakeholders effectively.
- Strong facilitation, project coordination and evaluation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital systems.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
The role is a new position, made possible through a 12 month funding agreement with Country South Australia Primary Health Network. It is being offered as a full-time role, until 30 June 2027.
