The Role - A Day in the Life of a Mentor

As a Mentor, you will be responsible for providing personalised mentorship to parents and carers to help them navigate their educational and career goals. Your Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Connecting participants with resources such as childcare, housing, financial aid, and educational resources.
  • Providing advice to participants with employment searches, resume and interview preparation and ensure they are aware, understand and adhere to their compliance requirements and obligations with Centrelink.
  • Developing tailored action plans that address unique needs and aspirations of each participant and help participants to follow through on personalised action plans.
  • Facilitating workshops and group sessions to provide additional support and foster a sense of community amongst the participants.
  • Keep accurate and up to date records of appointments and client communication in accordance with Parent Pathways contractual requirements.
  • Uphold and promote the Parent Pathways Program goals, contributing to its continuous improvement and success and achievement of organisational KPI’s.

Skills And Experiences Criteria for Success:

  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring, coaching, or providing support services, particularly with working parents, carers, or students.
  • Certificate III or higher in related field such as Community Services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and build rapport and trust with diverse participants.
  • A high level of computer literacy and use of Microsoft Office suites and other government programs.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences of participants.
  • Familiarity with community resources and services available to parents and carers, including childcare, housing, and financial aid.
  • Ability to interpret various guidelines and work within frameworks.
  • Highly motivated to achieving general employment and training outcomes for participants and organisation's performance and KPI goals.
  • Valid drivers licence and willingness to travel.
  • A recent, clear National Police Check.
  • A current QLD Blue Card.
