Role Overview
The Warehouse Operative ensures the efficient receipt, storage, picking, and dispatch of electrical components, cable assemblies, control panels, and other materials used in turnkey electrical system projects. The role supports both day‑to‑day production and project‑based workflows, where accuracy and traceability are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Goods Inward — Receive deliveries, check documentation, inspect for damage, verify quantities, and book items into the inventory system.
- Stock Management — Organise and maintain stock locations, conduct cycle counts, manage batch/serial tracking, and ensure materials meet quality and compliance requirements.
- Picking & Kitting — Prepare accurate kits of components for production teams, ensuring correct part numbers, quantities, and project allocations.
- Material Handling — Safely move goods using pallet trucks, forklifts, or other equipment; handle delicate electrical components with appropriate care.
- Dispatch & Logistics — Pack and prepare outgoing shipments, create dispatch documentation, liaise with couriers, and ensure on‑time delivery to customers or project sites.
- Documentation & Systems — Maintain accurate records in ERP/warehouse systems, update stock movements, and support traceability for regulated electrical components.
- Health & Safety — Follow safe working practices, maintain a clean and organised warehouse, and comply with electrical‑industry‑specific handling standards.
- Cross‑Functional Support — Work closely with procurement, production, engineering, and project teams to ensure materials availability and resolve stock issues.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in a warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment (electrical or technical products preferred).
- Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems.
- Ability to read basic technical documentation (e.g., part numbers, BOMs, labels).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in picking and stock control.
- Forklift licence (advantage but not always required).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of safe handling of electrical components, cables, and assemblies.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Experience of delivering to customer sites would be advantageous.
