Role

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will lever your drive, experience, and expertise to ensure the successful completion of control panels and automation assemblies according to approved designs at our manufacturing facility. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating Labour Resources: Efficiently manage and allocate labour resources to meet project deadlines.
  • Managing Parts and Materials: Ensure the timely availability of necessary parts and materials for assembly tasks.
  • Supervising the Team: Provide close supervision and guidance to a team of panel builders and associated personnel, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Conducting Toolbox Talks: Regularly conduct toolbox talks to address safety issues, procedural updates, and best practices. This involves:
    • Preparation: Select relevant topics, gather necessary materials, and schedule talks.
    • Engagement: Create an open environment for discussion, use clear and concise language, and incorporate visual aids.
    • Delivery: Start with engaging content, explain the importance of the topic, and provide practical examples.
    • Interaction: Encourage team participation, address concerns, and reinforce key points.
    • Follow‑Up: Document the talks, monitor compliance, and provide feedback.

About You

Already an experienced Panel Builder and supervisor, you will demonstrate broad capabilities in control panel assembly, as well as strong day‑to‑day supervisory skills developed through your time working in a similar industrial sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a small team of Panel Builders
  • Assemble and check a variety of electrical control panels and associated automation equipment
  • Determine and maintain efficient work procedures and techniques
  • Communicate and adopt safe systems of work (RAMS) and observe the requirements of any Permit to Work issued by site Duty Holders
  • Engage in the determination of work rotas and assignment of tasks
  • Assess tasks for completeness and report any issues or variationsite>
  • Complete job documentation
  • Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, subcontractors and other third parties
  • Undertake specialist training as required and keep up to date with statutory and legislative requirements
  • Demonstrate and apply the principles of continuous improvement to achieve ‘Best Practice’

You will need

  • +5 years’ experience of industrial control panel assembly
  • A comprehensive toolkit for completing assembly of control panels
  • Experience of working on own initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal, IT and communication skills
  • To be a team player and customer focused

Qualifications and Licences

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical Services – Panel Wiring / Panel Builder or Mechanical Manufacture Engineering (fitting and assembly) or equivalent approved Apprenticeship in Panel Wiring / Panel Building (Required)
  • ECS Gold Card – Wireman/Panel Builder (Desirable)
  • FLT/Counterbalance Truck Licence (Desirable)
  • SSSTS (Desirable)
