Role
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, we are seeking a skilled Control Panel Builder to join our dynamic team.
In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high‑quality electrical control systems to our clients across industrial and commercial sectors. You will be responsible for the assembly, wiring and construction of various control panels in line with project specifications, industry standards and company quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Build and wire electrical control panels from schematic diagrams, layouts and technical drawings.
- Interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts and wiring schedules accurately.
- Assemble components including PLCs, relays, contactors, terminal blocks, VFDs and instrumentation.
- Prepare enclosures, including cutting, drilling and punching holes for components and cable glands.
- Route and terminate cables and wires neatly, ensuring correct stripping, crimping and ferrule application.
- Label all components, cables and wires correctly to ensure clarity for installation and future maintenance.
- Use hand tools, power tools and mechanical equipment (drills, saws, sanders) safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with team members and engineers to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Maintain a clean, organised work environment and strictly follow all health and safety protocols.
- Complete job documentation.
- Undertake specialist training as required and keep up to date with statutory and legislative requirements.
- Demonstrate and apply the principles of continuous improvement to achieve best practice.
Required Skills
- Mechanical aptitude – strong ability to work with hand and power tools and understand complex mechanical layouts.
- Schematic reading – proven ability to read and accurately interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Precision assembly – high attention to detail with the ability to assemble components accurately and efficiently.
- Automation familiarity – basic understanding of PLCs and automation systems is an advantage.
Qualifications and Licences
- NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical Services – Panel Wiring/Panel Builder, Mechanical Manufacture Engineering (fitting and assembly) or equivalent.
- Approved apprenticeship in Panel Wiring/Panel Building (required) or relevant industry experience.
- ECS Gold Card – Wireman/Panel Builder (desirable).
- SSSTS (desirable).
