The Role

Reporting to the Head of Operations and working closely with an assigned Project Manager, you will support the coordinated delivery of commercially viable, multi‑discipline projects of varying size and complexity, in compliance with current legislation. This role is designed as a deputy and understudy position, sitting between the Project Manager and Project Engineer. You will assist with project coordination, workflow management, client liaison and site activities, with a mechanical engineering bias while coordinating all trades. The position provides structured exposure to commercial, technical and leadership responsibilities in preparation for progression into a full Project Manager role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support development of enquiries and quotations for conversion into projects
  • Assist in managing projects through to successful completion
  • Coordinate mechanical activities while integrating electrical and other trades
  • Support engagement with Design & Technical, Site Installation and Manufacturing & Assembly teams
  • Assist in preparation of safe systems of work (RAMS) and Permit to Work compliance
  • Coordinate and schedule tasks for assigned project and installation resources
  • Monitor project progress and report risks, variations and opportunities
  • Support approval of timesheets and resource utilisation
  • Assist with provisioning of materials, tools and equipment
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients and third parties
  • Represent the company in line with Elmleigh brand values

  • Resources: Project Engineers, Installation Technicians, Mechanical Fitters, Electricians and associated operatives
  • Turnover Budget: Support delivery of projects up to and exceeding £1M
  • Locations: Hinckley, Leicestershire and client sites across the UK

About You

You will have a proven engineering background, ideally mechanical, with experience supporting the design, procurement, installation and commissioning of industrial installation projects. You will be organised, proactive and comfortable working across disciplines, sites and stakeholders. You will be customer‑focused, a strong communicator and keen to develop your project management and leadership capabilities.

  • 3–5 years’ experience delivering or supporting industrial installations
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team‑focused and customer‑oriented approach
  • Willingness to develop into a full Project Manager role

Qualifications & Licences

  • HND in Engineering, Construction or similar (minimum)
  • IOSH (desirable)
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
