We are recruiting for an experienced DEA who is looking to expand their career and lead our Property Assessment team in Bath!
Curo, The Maltings, Lower Bristol Road, Bath, BA2 1EP
37 hours per week
Full Time Hybrid
We’re one of the largest housing associations in the South West and an expanding house builder, using our profits to create more affordable housing in our communities.
Leading our property assessment team requires both technical expertise and hands-on people management skills. As we continue to understand and improve our housing portfolio across Bath and surrounding areas, we need an experienced team leader to guide our Property Assessors in collecting the vital data that informs our investment decisions. This supervisory role offers excellent scope – from managing a team delivering 2,500 home condition surveys annually to implementing new block condition survey methodologies that will enhance our approach to property maintenance.
Imagine using your technical expertise to lead a team whose accurate assessments help us make smarter decisions about our properties, achieve our EPC targets, and maintain quality homes for our residents.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- You’ll inspire and guide a talented team of five Property Assessors, helping them excel at collecting the vital property data that shapes our investment decisions.
- You’ll pioneer our new block condition survey programme launching April 2025 – creating innovative survey methods that will transform how we understand our buildings.
- You’ll share your EPC knowledge with the team, helping them improve their skills in identifying building defects and recommending appropriate remedial actions.
- You’ll follow established processes to coordinate the survey schedule, making sure we reach our target of 2,500 home surveys annually.
- You’ll be our guardian of standards, spotting potential compliance issues and making sure they’re addressed before they become problems.
- You’ll build strong relationships with our Property Performance team, collaborating to ensure the data we collect genuinely improves our homes.
- You’ll help residents improve their homes safely, reviewing consent applications and inspecting completed works to ensure quality.
What You’ll Get in Return:
- 26 days annual leave per year (plus bank holidays) rising to 29 days after 3 years.
- Your birthday off as an extra holiday.
- Up to 10% matched pension contribution.
- Hybrid working (3 days office, 2 days home).
- Flexible benefits which might include a Health Cash Plan.
- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme for your own wellbeing.
More About You:
You’re a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA Level 3) with excellent people management skills and a strong technical understanding of building construction and energy efficiency. Your ability to diagnose technical building issues and provide solution-based approaches will be crucial, as will your experience in managing teams to deliver against targets and deadlines. You’ll be self-motivated with excellent organisation skills, able to manage conflicting priorities while maintaining attention to detail even on repetitive tasks. Most importantly, you’ll be passionate about property standards and energy efficiency, with a genuine interest in collecting accurate data that drives smart investment decisions. A valid UK driving license is essential for this role.
