Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Sales Director, the Technical Sales Consultant will play a critical role in developing and converting capital equipment project opportunities, while maintaining Elmbridge UK’s reputation for technical excellence and customer service. This role focuses on industrial spray booth and finishing system projects, requiring a consultative, technically competent sales approach. You will manage complex, multi-stakeholder sales processes from initial enquiry through to order placement and handover, ensuring solutions are both technically robust and commercially viable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently develop, manage and convert a pipeline of industrial spray booth and finishing projects valued between £50,000 and £2,500,000
  • Achieve or exceed agreed revenue and gross profit targets
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project pipelines within the CRM system

Consultative Technical Selling

  • Take time to fully understand customer processes, production requirements, site constraints, and compliance obligations
  • Translate customer needs into technically sound, fit-for-purpose finishing solutions
  • Prepare and present detailed proposals, specifications, and quotations

Project & Stakeholder Management

  • Professionally manage multi-stakeholder decision-making processes, including production, engineering, HSE, and procurement teams
  • Maintain engagement and momentum throughout longer capital sales cycles
  • Work closely with the project management team to ensure accurate project scoping, smooth handovers, and successful delivery aligned with customer expectations

Internal Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work closely with engineering, project management, and installation teams to ensure:
  • Accurate technical specifications
  • Smooth project handovers
  • Successful delivery aligned with customer expectations

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain long-term partnerships with key customers
  • Identify repeat business, upgrade, and upsell opportunities
  • Act as a trusted advisor and professional ambassador for Elmbridge UK

Business Development & Market Insight

  • Proactively identify and develop new project opportunities within target sectors
  • Provide market feedback and insights to support strategic growth
  • Support wider sales activity where appropriate, aligning with Area Sales Managers

Systems & Process Compliance

  • Record all meaningful sales interactions, site visits, and project updates in CRM within required timeframes
  • Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting and reporting
  • Attend company and sales meetings as required

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in technical or capital equipment sales, ideally within:
  • Industrial finishing
  • Spray booths / paint systems
  • Engineering or manufacturing environments
  • Strong ability to sell consultatively and understand technical processes
  • Demonstrated track record of managing complex, high-value sales cycles
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage multiple stakeholders at all levels
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical accuracy and profitability
  • Self‑motivated, organised, and results‑driven
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and attend internal meetings as required
