We are looking for an organised and committed HR Officer to join our team during an important period of change. This role provides valuable support to core HR services, while helping the Council prepare for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR). You will play a key part in ensuring the Council has the right people, processes and data in place to support workforce transition and organisational readiness.

About the role

As HR Officer you will provide practical and responsive support across day to day HR activity and Local Government Reorganisation work. You will work closely with HR colleagues to help deliver recruitment, employee communications consultations and workforce changes. You will coordinate and maintain accurate workforce data, supporting modelling reporting and payroll transition activity. You will prepare materials for meetings, support consultation processes and help ensure records are complete and well managed. You will help update HR policies, templates and communications and act as a first point of contact for employee queries relating to the reorganisation. This is a varied role which requires flexibility, attention to detail and confidence working in a busy environment with competing priorities.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone with proven experience in a generalist HR environment who can work accurately, collaboratively and with discretion. You will bring:

  • Experience supporting HR processes including recruitment, data management, onboarding and employee relations.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Confidence working with workforce data, HR systems and reporting.
  • The ability to communicate with tact and professionalism with employees, managers and stakeholders.
  • A flexible approach, able to move between reorganisation activity and business as usual HR support.
  • A good understanding of data protection requirements and a commitment to equality and diversity.
  • Experience of supporting organisational change; TUPE or local government HR work would be an advantage.

What we offer

When you join us your expertise, skills and experience will be valued and your career development will be our priority. We are committed to creating a collaborative and innovative environment which empowers you to thrive. You will be part of a friendly, supportive One Team culture with the chance to make a real difference. We use Viva Engage to keep you connected and engaged and we hold regular face to face meetings, such as Chief Executive briefings to keep you in the loop. We are conveniently located close to Oxted Station and have some on-site parking. In addition to the stated pay, we offer membership and contributions towards the Local Government Pension Scheme, flexible working (giving you the opportunity to work from home for up to three days a week), flexi-time, payment of a relevant professional subscription and access to a discounted health scheme.

We welcome applications from all sectors of our community, including BAME, LGBTQ+ and all groups protected under the Equality Act.
