We are seeking a Procurement Assistant who will play a key role in supporting the Council’s Procurement Team. This team ensures that all purchasing and contracting activity complies with legal and financial regulations, delivers value for money, and reflects best practice across the organisation. In this role, you will help maintain the Council’s procurement governance, support the smooth running of the Corporate Procurement Board, and contribute to the accuracy and transparency of procurement data—particularly the Council’s Contracts Register. You will be central to keeping processes organised, compliant and efficient, while helping colleagues navigate procurement requirements confidently.

As a Procurement Assistant, you will provide administrative, analytical and organisational support across a wide range of procurement activities. You will work closely with Council Officers, suppliers and stakeholders, helping to manage competing priorities and ensuring that procurement processes run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support end-to-end procurement administration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintain contract records and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate procurement meetings, documentation and action tracking.
  • Prepare tender evaluation materials and manage e-procurement system activities.
  • Handle supplier and internal queries, FOI requests and procurement reporting.
  • Monitor procurement legislation and support process improvements.
  • General support of local government reorganisation process.
