We are a highly respected pack‑away preschool in Elm Park, Hornchurch looking for a passionate, caring and enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner to help and support a 2‑year‑old child with additional needs. You will be expected to provide high‑quality care and education, making a lasting difference to the child’s life. You will support the child in your care, giving them the best possible learning experiences and help them develop basic skills for starting school.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and implement a daily routine with engaging activities that either stimulate or calm as appropriate, promoting learning and development across various areas.
- Plan and execute structured play.
- Provide support in a manner that helps the child’s cognitive development by removing barriers in learning.
- Modify and adapt materials to the appropriate level.
- Provide support for the child’s emotional and social development by encouraging and modelling positive behaviour.
- Help feed at lunchtime and provide intimate care (nappy changing) when necessary, ensuring the child’s safety and well‑being at all times.
- Observe and assess the child’s progress and identify areas for development.
- Communicate and build relationships with the child and their parents.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Candidates must understand the importance of safeguarding and hold either a basic level certificate or undertake training in this area immediately.
- Provide proof of identity.
- Undergo a DBS check or have an up‑to‑date Update Service registration checked.
- Provide proof of the right to work in the UK.
- Provide two professional references: one from a previous employer and one regarding previous work with children.
- Level 3 Early Childhood Education is essential, or Level 2 with a commitment to immediately start working towards Level 3.
- Thorough knowledge of the latest EYFS.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Drive to create an inclusive environment.
- Positivity and can‑do attitude.
- Flexibility to change.
- Teamwork qualities enabling you to work together with the Manager, Deputy, SENDCo and other staff.
- Passion for childcare and the development of young children.
- Willingness to undertake training throughout the academic year relevant to this role.
- Up‑to‑date Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training immediately if not holding a current certificate).
