Phlebotomist in Sheffield

The following are the core responsibilities of the phlebotomist. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

• Carry out blood pressure and pulse rate, recording findings accurately.
• Facilitate routine BP monitoring at home, advising patients accordingly.
• Carry out BMI checks as directed.
• Act as a chaperone as required.
• Undertake venepuncture.
• Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation.
• Help ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
• Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate.

Main duties of the job

• Record Keeping: Document the assessment of need, delivery of care & the outcome of care, ensuring that:

• An appropriate entry is made in the patient medical records.
• Appropriate forms are completed as necessary.

We are looking for an experienced, caring and dedicated Phlebotomist to join our small friendly practice team based at Elm Lane & Chapeltown Surgery. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high quality patient care, working alongside a group of dedicated skilled professionals in a supportive environment. The post is for 15hrs per week.

Person Specification

• Clinical Knowledge & Skills: Venepuncture, Height, Weight, BP & Pulse monitoring/recording, Chaperone Procedure, Ability to record accurate clinical notes.
• Other Requirements: Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) Check, Occupational Health Clearance, Has access to own car, Flexibility to work outside of core office hours.
• Experience: Experience of working with the general public, Experience of working in a healthcare setting, Experience of working in a Primary Care Environment.
• Qualifications: Clear, polite telephone manner, Effective Time Management (planning & organising), Ability to work as a team member and autonomously, Good interpersonal skills, Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure.
