Overview
Responsibilities
- Support the development and delivery of a strategic public affairs engagement plan aligned to business objectives.
- Build, manage, and maintain strong relationships with Ministers, parliamentarians, civil servants, policymakers, and key external stakeholders.
- Design and deliver proactive engagement programmes and public affairs campaigns that enhance reputation, influence, and positioning.
- Provide political insight, monitoring, and analysis to inform internal decision-making and advise on appropriate responses.
- Advise senior stakeholders on political engagement, reputational issues, and risks within a complex, regulated environment.
- Coordinate and deliver visits programmes, political events, and stakeholder engagement activities across the UK, EU, and key markets.
- Work closely with colleagues across Corporate Affairs, External Relations, Brand, and Sustainability to ensure aligned and impactful activity.
- Represent the organisation at key external forums, including policy roundtables, party conferences, and industry events.
- Support engagement with trade associations and external bodies to advance organisational interests.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in public affairs, policy, or political engagement within a complex, highly regulated organisation.
- Strong understanding of the UK political landscape, with experience engaging Westminster and/or Brussels.
- Demonstrable ability to influence policymakers and external stakeholders across political parties.
- Experience developing and delivering public affairs campaigns and stakeholder engagement programmes.
- Strong political analysis skills, with the ability to produce clear, insightful briefings beyond national media reporting.
- Track record of building effective internal and external relationships.
- Experience organising political, policy, or industry events at national and local levels.
- Proactive self-starter with strong judgement and awareness of reputational and regulatory risk.
- Collaborative working style, effective in matrixed corporate environments.
