Ellwood Atfield are partnering with an independent watchdog who are looking for a Press Officer on a maternity cover basis. As a Press Officer, you will play a vital role in promoting the work of the watchdog and enhancing its reputation. This is a highly proactive role whereby you will be expected to translate complex, technical information into a compelling media narrative for journalists and external stakeholders.
The role:
- Promote the organisation’s work – including reports – to external audiences through traditional media and social media channels.
- Proactively pitch stories to journalists, whilst briefing on organisation reports to ensure positive and accurate media coverage.
- Produce content for social media whilst working alongside the design team to create multi-media posts.
- Engage with press office stakeholders across Parliamentary and government departments.
- Support spokespeople to communicate work efficiently.
- Respond to time-sensitive and high profile inquiries from journalists.
About you:
- Strong communication skills with an ability to tailor messages to a diverse audience using an array of channels.
- Good working knowledge of Parliamentary procedure with an ability to produce content across various subject matters.
- Proficient in social and traditional media tracking.
