An established trade within the financial and professional services sector is seeking a Policy Manager to support its commercial finance agenda. The organisation works closely with industry participants, policy makers and regulators to promote a responsible and well-functioning sector that supports UK businesses and the wider economy.

With increasing focus on SME access to finance amid economic and regulatory change, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-profile policy discussions and engage directly with senior stakeholders across industry and government.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on policy issues affecting SME access to finance, including areas such as personal guarantees, credit data and sector-specific lending.
  • Draft consultation responses, policy papers, briefings and board materials with minimal oversight.
  • Support research projects, events and wider delivery of the commercial finance policy programme.
  • Coordinate and contribute to member committees, including preparing agendas and minutes.
  • Engage with government, regulators and industry stakeholders through meetings and roundtables.
  • Build relationships with a broad member base, including banks and specialist lenders.
  • Monitor regulatory and legislative developments, identifying implications and engagement opportunities.
  • Produce member communications including updates, articles and presentations.

Skills & Experience

  • Excellent written skills and proven ability to write policy reports and consultation documents.
  • Previous experience in financial services, policy, government, regulation or a membership body environment.
  • Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and representing organisational positions.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulatory material.
