As part of the Media Relations team, you will be responsible for crafting and sharing this story through proactive and strategic communications as well as impactful use of digital channels. Reporting to the Head of Media Relations, you will be responsible for:

  • Implementing a media relations strategy by turning complex evidence into compelling stories to deliver across national and trade print, broadcast, publications, and engaging with digital and social media.
  • Driving a proactive campaigning approach to media relations activities through planned programmes and activities underpinning key industry policy agendas.
  • Developing clear positions, case studies, and story concepts, turning content and evidence into compelling messages and stories.
  • Building and developing strong personal relationships with the media at a national and regional level across consumer, trade, and specialist channels—including sector specialists, business, and political journalists/editors.
  • Working closely with the trade association's members and Board to ensure their support and advocacy of the media relations strategy, programmes, and approaches.
  • Ensuring expert spokespeople are appropriately trained to engage effectively with a wide range of media audiences.
  • Driving the digital presence as a vital, current, and engaging information source for multiple audiences to benefit engagement campaigns.
  • Possessing strong media relations experience, ideally gained within a highly regulated sector or within an agency environment.
  • Having strong skills in driving proactive stories across multiple channels with the ability to quickly understand a complex sector with highly technical stakeholders.
  • Having an excellent understanding of working in a complex regulatory environment.
  • Maintaining good networks with relevant media groups at national and regional levels: print, broadcast, and digital, and the ability to develop meaningful relationships with them.
  • Being a team player and collaborator, working effectively with colleagues across the organization, members, and external stakeholders.
  • Being a clear communicator with the ability to engage and inspire others.
