The Media Relations Manager will lead the organisation’s press office and media relations function, ensuring timely and accurate communication with journalists across national, regional and specialist media. Reporting to the Head of External Communications, you will oversee a small press team, and work closely with internal stakeholders, senior leaders, and external partners to shape the organisation’s voice and protect its reputation. This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can confidently represent the organisation on complex and sensitive issues.
Main responsibilities
- Run a responsive, high performing press office
- Proactively identify media opportunities
- Provide expert media and communications advice to senior leaders
- Support the development and delivery of communications strategies and campaigns
- Lead, motivate and develop the press team
Key skills and experience
- Extensive experience leading complex, high-impact communication projects at a national level
- Proven experience working with senior external stakeholders, including political journalists, MPs and senior officials
- Specialist knowledge of media management and stakeholder engagement
- Strong communication skills, including drafting and explaining complex issues clearly
- Excellent copywriting and editing skills
£52,500+ £3,500 London weighting Annual leave 28.5 days + bank holidays Cycle to work scheme / free eye care vouchers
