Ellwood Atfield is delighted to be partnering exclusively with a global payments technology leader to find a Senior Director, Corporate Communications for Europe. Our client is operating at the heart of digital commerce and financial services, with a significant presence across European markets. This is an organisation that sits at the centre of major conversations shaping the future of payments, regulation, and economic growth.

The opportunity: As Senior Director, Corporate Communications (Europe), you will lead integrated communications programmes that support business priorities and strengthen the organisation’s reputation across Europe. Working in close partnership with Government Affairs, Risk and Legal teams, you will drive corporate media, external relations, and reputation strategy across multiple markets. This role requires strong judgement in high-profile situations, the ability to operate across multiple European markets at pace, and a proven track record of advising senior leaders. The role will lead a small but high-performing team, manage agency relationships and budgets, and act as the primary point of contact for issues management and crisis communications across Europe.

Experience required:

  • Extensive experience in corporate communications, public affairs, and issues management
  • Experience in payments, financial services, technology, or other regulated industries
  • Strong track record advising senior executives in high-stakes situations
  • Proven ability to lead communications across multiple European markets
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives on complex issues
  • Ability to operate at pace, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively in fast-moving environments
  • Strong leadership, team management, and stakeholder management capability
