Our client is a highly respected professional membership body with a significant UK and international footprint. It supports members with insight, guidance and influence across business, the economy and public policy—acting as a convenor for industry, regulators and decision-makers.

The opportunity involves leading the work across the financial services industry, with a particular focus on banking, insurance and investment management. This is a senior role shaping and delivering thought leadership, policy and practical member guidance on the issues that matter most to the sector. You will strengthen relationships across regulators, policymakers and industry leaders, ensuring the organisation remains a credible and influential voice.

Reporting to a senior director within the membership and engagement function, you will work closely with colleagues across policy, communications and international teams to ensure content is aligned, accessible and delivers real value to members.

Main responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop senior stakeholder relationships across financial services, including member networks, regulators and industry bodies.
  • Build and manage a high-quality programme of work on priority financial services issues, including commissioning and managing expert third-party input.
  • Produce thought leadership, policy positions and practical implementation/best-practice content that supports members and strengthens external influence.
  • Lead the development of strong responses to consultations and calls for evidence from government, parliamentary committees and regulators.
  • Partner across the wider organisation to align content strategy across policy, thought leadership and member support, including collaboration with international colleagues.
Key skills and experience:
  • Recent, relevant experience within financial services (or a closely aligned professional services / regulatory environment).
  • Strong understanding of key developments affecting financial services, which may include ESG, IFRS 9, IFRS 17, crypto assets, and the evolving regulatory landscape.
  • Proven ability to commission, manage and deliver high-quality policy work, consultation responses, thought leadership and member-facing guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex technical topics for varied audiences (including presenting and public speaking).
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to engage senior leaders and expert communities to build consensus and deliver impact.
