Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the consumer communications function, overseeing a team of around 10 across multiple workstreams.
  • Deliver high impact, national storytelling across products, people, and purpose led initiatives.
  • Drive a more modern, integrated approach to PR and social, improving creativity and effectiveness.
  • Reduce reliance on agencies by building stronger in-house capability and ownership.
  • Act as a senior strategic partner within the wider communications function.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with national media, securing high profile coverage across print, broadcast, and digital.
  • Operate at pace, managing multiple priorities while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Lead through change, evolving team structure, capability, and ways of working.
Key Skills and Experience Required
  • Proven experience leading consumer communications within a major, recognisable brand such as retail, FMCG, drinks, or similar.
  • Strong track record of delivering high volume, high impact media coverage at a national level.
  • Deep understanding of modern PR, including integration across social, digital, and earned media.
  • Excellent media relationships across national press and broadcast.
  • Creative thinker with strong storytelling instincts and the ability to generate culturally relevant ideas.
  • Hands on leadership style with the ability to balance strategy and execution.
  • Experience building and leading teams, improving performance, and driving pace.
  • Comfortable operating in complex, evolving environments with ambiguity and change.
  • Experience managing agencies, with a clear view on when to use them versus in-house delivery.
