Who are we? We're Ello Group, the people who create everlasting connections between brands and consumers. Born from the intelligence of The Dining Club Group, we provide some of the UK's biggest brands with the tools to give consumers genuinely rewarding acquisition, engagement, and loyalty schemes.
Role: To deliver trusted reporting and actionable insight that helps Ello understand performance, identify opportunities and make better decisions that improve customer, commercial and operational outcomes. You will help Ello Group turn trusted data into clear, actionable insight that improves customer engagement, product performance, commercial outcomes and operational decision-making. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to understand priorities, challenge unclear requests, define meaningful KPIs and create standardised reporting that helps teams make better, faster decisions.
This role is ideal for someone who is commercially curious, confident working with SQL and motivated by using data to influence action. You will help the business understand trends, risks and opportunities across customer engagement, product usage, commercial performance and operational activity, including using performance projections to support planning, prioritisation and timely intervention against key targets. You will also support the adoption and practical use of AI and automation within reporting and insight processes, helping the business reduce manual effort, improve consistency and focus more time on analysis that creates measurable value. The role combines hands-on analysis with business partnering. The successful candidate will be expected to understand the question behind each request, build trusted outputs and help stakeholders turn insight into action.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with stakeholders across all teams at Ello to understand business problems, priorities and decision-making needs.
- Gather, document and challenge stakeholder requirements, ensuring requests are linked to a clear decision, action or measurable business outcome.
- Translate business questions into analytical requirements, defining the data, logic, measures, filters and outputs needed to answer them effectively.
- Develop, maintain and improve standardised reports, dashboards and reporting frameworks across the business, reducing duplication and ad hoc manual reporting.
- Define and document KPI methodologies, metric definitions and reporting logic so the business has a consistent and trusted view of performance.
- Write, validate and optimise SQL queries to extract, join, interrogate and analyse data from relevant business systems and data warehouses.
- Analyse customer, operational, commercial and product data to identify trends, root causes, risks and opportunities.
- Turn analysis into clear recommendations that help the business make data-driven decisions and prioritise the right actions.
- Build clear, engaging and accessible insight outputs for both technical and non-technical audiences, including dashboards, commentary, summaries and stakeholder presentations.
- Support the development of self-service reporting by creating reusable datasets, standardised views and clear guidance for business users.
- Work with Data Engineering and relevant technical teams to improve data quality, investigate discrepancies and ensure reporting is built on robust data foundations.
- Use structured prioritisation to balance competing requests, focusing effort on the highest-value business questions and reducing low-value reporting demand.
- Identify opportunities to use AI, automation and modern analytics tools to improve reporting efficiency, accelerate insight generation and support better decision-making.
Skills and Experience Required:
Essential:
- 3+ years experience in an Insights, Data, BI or similar analytical role.
- Strong SQL skills, with experience writing queries, joining datasets, validating outputs and investigating discrepancies.
- Experience working with large, structured datasets and applying data quality checks.
- Ability to gather, challenge and translate stakeholder requirements into clear analytical outputs.
- Proven ability to own analytical projects end-to-end, from gathering requirements through to delivery, stakeholder presentation and follow-up, while managing priorities effectively and working independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify trends, root causes, risks, opportunities and commercial implications.
- Experience building dashboards, standardised reports and KPI frameworks, ideally using Power BI or similar tools.
- Able to turn data into clear insight, recommendations and narratives for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Confident communicator with strong organisation, attention to detail and a focus on data accuracy and business value.
Technical Knowledge & Tools:
- Power BI or similar reporting and visualisation tools.
- Data warehouses, structured data models and data quality validation; Snowflake experience would be beneficial.
- Excel for analysis, modelling or data validation.
- Awareness of data governance, access controls and responsible data handling.
- Exposure to Python, AI-enabled analytics, automation or natural language data querying would be advantageous.
