They provide strong business leadership and influence product decisions where these decisions have a significant impact on delivery, benefits, or risk.
Key Responsibilities:- Business Ownership & Outcome Accountability: Acts as the accountable business owner for approved change initiatives, with accountability limited to the lifecycle of the initiative and its associated outcomes and benefits. Owns definition, tracking and realisation of business benefits. Provides business leadership and outcome focused direction to Delivery Leads, Business Analysts and operational teams, and works in partnership with Product Owners to ensure delivery decisions align to agreed business outcomes. Champions change across the organisation, securing stakeholder commitment and alignment.
- Planning, Governance & Risk Management: Oversees end-to-end business delivery scope, benefits, risks and stakeholder engagement. Acts as the escalation point for business-side delivery risks. Partners with PMO when present; or assumes proportionate programme or project governance responsibilities. Maintains and escalates RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies). Produces clear executive-level reporting and governance reports. Ensures decision clarity, milestone tracking and delivery transparency. Always ensures compliance with company policies in line with ISO 27001:2022, BS 10012:2017, ISO 50001:2018, ISO 22301:2019.
- Board & Investor Reporting: Produces clear, insight-driven reporting for the Executive Sponsor, Board and (where relevant) investors, ensuring transparency of progress, risks and commercial impact. Ensures initiative-level KPIs, benefits and delivery risks are presented with narrative clarity and grounded in data. Supports preparation of executive and board-level materials by providing accurate, outcome-focused updates on initiative status, dependencies and benefit realisation.
- Business Strategy Enablement: Translates strategic objectives into actionable delivery requirements, ensuring business initiatives remain aligned to the organisations strategic priorities. Partners with Executive Leadership to ensure approved initiatives contribute directly to commercial, operational and customer-focused strategic goals. Provides strategic insight and challenge to ensure delivery decisions reflect wider business direction, growth ambitions, and future-state operating models. Identifies strategic risks, structural constraints, and cross-functional impacts early, ensuring initiatives remain scalable and aligned with long-term business strategy.
- Cross-Functional Business Coordination: Ensures appropriate engagement of Commercial, Operations, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Procurement, Customer Service and other impacted functions. Aligns business milestones with technical delivery plans and operational readiness. Ensures compliance, training, process changes and customer impacts are defined and delivered. Drives organisational readiness across impacted teams.
- Partnership with Technical Delivery: Operates in a dual leadership model alongside the Technical Delivery Lead. Ensures business goals for approved initiatives are feasible, appropriately prioritised and aligned with technical delivery plans, working alongside Product and Technical leadership. Supports early requirement shaping via Business, Product and Technology. Ensures operational impacts, technical dependencies and support considerations are addressed.
- Product & Backlog Alignment: Works closely with the Product Owner and Product leadership to inform backlog prioritisation by articulating business value, commercial return, regulatory need and readiness considerations for approved initiatives. Ensures Product SMEs and BAs provide validated, outcome-driven requirements. Maintains alignment between initiative objectives and the agreed product roadmap, escalating conflicts or misalignment through appropriate governance where required.
- Go-Live, Adoption & Benefits Realisation: Leads business readiness planning and go-live coordination. Oversees early life support, adoption tracking and feedback loops. Monitors customer and partner impact post-delivery. Tracks and evidences benefit realisation against agreed metrics.
Experience & Capabilities: Significant experience leading complex business change or transformation initiatives. Proven track record in implementing global initiatives. Proven accountability for benefits definition, tracking and realisation. Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience balancing cost, value and risk. Ability to operate credibly at executive level and influence without formal authority. Comfortable working alongside senior technical leaders in a shared accountability model.
