The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tissue Engineering Technician to provide essential technical support within a dynamic research laboratory environment. The Institute aims to advance human health by scaling interdisciplinary science at the interface of chemistry, biology and engineering. The MDLS Institute will engage in Nanopore Sensing and Sequencing, 3D Tissue Construction, and Device Engineering, with research underpinned by new devices for use in clinical settings. EIT fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and resilience, valuing diverse expertise to drive sustainable solutions to humanity’s enduring challenges.
Responsibilities
- 3D Bio-Printing and Tissue Culture: Perform and assist with 3D bio-printing experiments, including handling cells, biomaterials, and 3D tissue constructs; maintain cell and 3D tissue cultures.
- Experimental Support: Assist senior scientists and researchers with the design and execution of experiments, such as printing 3D tissues derived from stem cells or primary cells, and testing different biomaterials.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain 3D printers and other tissue engineering devices to ensure proper functioning.
- Documentation and Data Management: Maintain accurate laboratory records and electronic notebooks, analyse experimental data, prepare reports, and manage laboratory information systems.
- Laboratory Management and Safety: Manage tissue engineering-related inventory and order supplies. Prepare materials, calibrate equipment, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulatory guidelines.
- Training and Collaboration: Train students and staff on laboratory procedures and equipment use. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including biologists and polymer scientists.
Requirements
- Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, Electronic Engineering, Biotechnology, Materials or a related scientific field.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: devices, materials, tissue engineering, or cell biology.
- Personal Attributes: Enthusiasm to learn new technologies, strong organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
