Location: Remote (based in the Midlands or South)

Salary: £36,000 – 38,500

The Role: As the SHE Risk Manager, you will be an integral part of the Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Team. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert help, guidance, training, coaching, and support to ensure our establishments are safe and healthy for everyone.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and training programs to drive our positive and proactive safety and health culture.
  • Conducting regular site inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Collaborating with various teams to promote a culture of safety and well-being across all our sites.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest health and safety regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.

General Duties:

  • Be proactive in reducing accidents and near misses by identifying risk gaps, areas of concern, or controls that are not effective.
  • Train, coach, and support all safety and health representatives and Senior Leaders to enhance their knowledge and understanding of safety, health, and environment hazards.
  • Audit, monitor, and review current standards of SHE in settings you are supporting.
  • Provide risk analysis feedback, comment, and opinion in a clear, concise way to Head of Group Health and Safety and other key stakeholders following site visits.
  • Review risk assessments (including fire risk assessments) and identify actions required.
  • Prepare and present audit and visit reports and associated action plans in accordance with specified protocols.
  • Undertake accident and incident investigations when required.
  • Contribute to the review, development, and updating of SHE policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and take part in delivering the agenda of internal SHE Forums.
  • Lead and coordinate projects to help deliver the SHE objectives.
  • Contribute to and deliver safety, health and environment training as required.
  • Contribute to annual safety reports.
  • Assist Head of Group Health and Safety when required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the education or care sector.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Experienced in undertaking audits or inspections.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and coach others effectively.
  • A proactive and positive approach to promoting a culture of safety and well-being.
  • Relevant qualifications in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work from home when required.
  • Flexible with UK-wide travel and working away from home.
  • Driving license.
