As a Cleaner, you will play a vital role in creating a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for our student residents. Your attention to detail and dedication to cleanliness will contribute to the overall satisfaction and happiness of our residents and ensure they have a pleasant and hygienic living space.
Working hours: 20 hours Monday – Friday, 7am – 11am
Location: Peckham OR South Bermondsey (2 roles available)
Hourly Wage: £13.15 (London living wage)
Cleaning:
- Perform daily cleaning tasks, including but not limited to vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and dusting the residents’ living spaces.
- Clean and sanitise communal kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and corridors to meet hygiene standards.
- Ensure spotlessness of communal windows, glass panels, and mirrors, with the use of cleaning materials.
- Empty residents’ bins and replace bin liners.
- Complete room inspections and upscale any issues when required.
- Ensure disposal of waste from the site in line with relevant regulations and recycling.
- Complete handover at the end of each shift to keep clear lines of communication and ensure standards are being kept to the highest level.
Maintain Supplies:
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and toiletries as needed.
- Report inventory levels to the Residence Manager for reordering.
Report Maintenance Issues:
- Report any maintenance or repair issues observed during cleaning to the maintenance team.
- Assist in identifying and addressing potential safety hazards.
Attention to Detail:
- Pay close attention to cleanliness and tidiness, ensuring that all areas meet the highest standards of hygiene and presentation.
- Address any specific cleaning requests or special cleaning projects.
KEY SKILLS & CAPABILITIES:
- Dynamic: Able to ensure students have the best experience and confident in dealing with a range of support requirements and issues.
- Proactive and organised: Have a bias for action, anticipates, and responds timely to residents and the team.
- Managing resources: Supervise, coordinate, and manage internal and external resources to accomplish goals.
- Interpersonal skills: Understands and recognises the value of other points of view and ways of doing things.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Essential: Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience. Basic CRB disclosure. Influencing skills, willingness to go the extra mile, and previous customer-facing role. Understanding of hygiene, health, and safety principles.
- Desirable: Recognised Health and Safety qualification.
