NEW; ideal for a relocating City lawyer looking for Caribbean associate role, focusing on advising clients in the fintech and broader financial services sectors, including payment services, virtual assets, and Mi CAR related matters.

Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting and negotiating regulatory and commercial documentation, providing legal opinions on fintech business models, and advising on licensing, compliance, and risk management for financial institutions and virtual asset service providers.

The associate will conduct legal research on evolving regulatory frameworks, coordinate with regulators and external stakeholders, and support cross-border projects involving Caribbean jurisdictions.

The role also involves collaborating with partners and colleagues on client development initiatives and contributing to thought leadership.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in financial services regulation, including experience with payment services, virtual assets/crypto, and familiarity with Mi CAR or comparable regulatory regimes.
  • Demonstrated experience advising fintech companies, financial institutions, or regulated businesses on licensing, compliance, and risk management.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills, with the ability to handle complex cross-border matters and high-value transactions.
  • Clear, concise communication skills and the ability to present complex regulatory issues to clients in an accessible way.
  • Interest in and understanding of emerging technologies, digital assets, and innovation in financial services, with a proactive approach to staying current on regulatory developments.
