The Impact You Will Have
This role is critical to Elliptic\’s mission of safeguarding the integrity of the global crypto ecosystem. As a Senior Investigator, you will be a key member of our elite Investigations & Threat Intelligence team, working closely with government agencies, the Crypto Industry, and strategic partners across the EMEA region. Your expertise in tracing complex, state-sponsored activity and uncovering the TTPs of nation-state and highly sophisticated threat actors will directly inform mitigation operations, in-depth research, and policy decisions. Through collaboration with law enforcement, regulators, and analytic partners, your work will help disrupt illicit financial networks, strengthen crypto-related threat detection, and reinforce Elliptic’s position as a trusted partner on the front lines of global security. This is high-consequence investigation work—driven by purpose, precision, and impact at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead advanced crypto investigations tied to nation-state actors, sanctions evasion, and high-priority threat groups
- Deliver actionable intelligence reports, briefings, and strategic insights that directly support national security, financial crime enforcement, and crypto policy efforts
- Collaborate with internal product, data, and research teams to translate real-world investigations into scalable threat detection capabilities and platform innovation
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Self-starter who takes ownership of investigations, values knowledge-sharing and team collaboration
- Ability to work with experts across intelligence, government, and crypto industry communities to solve complex problems
- Interest in developing new methodologies, staying ahead of threats, and contributing to impactful investigations
Our Ideal Candidate Has
- Located in, or willing to relocate to, the Greater London Area
- Willingness and ability to obtain DV level clearance
- Deep expertise with blockchain analytics platforms and the ability to operate independently across multiple cryptoassets
- Strong understanding of how nation-state actors, APT groups, or organized crime networks use crypto for illicit finance
- Comfort with raw blockchain data and native explorers to trace assets, including smart contracts and cross-chain activity
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex investigations with minimal oversight
Bonus Points
- Experience working with public sector partners (law enforcement, intelligence agencies, national security teams) in crypto contexts
- DV level clearance
- Familiarity with DeFi protocols, mixers, cross-chain bridges, and laundering techniques used by high-tier actors
