We are looking for a hands-on People Tech & Operations Lead. This is a builder role — not a management position. You will be the architect and owner of our People technology ecosystem, building the automations, integrations, and self-serve systems that underpin an exceptional employee experience at scale.

The impact you will have:

  • You will work directly across our HRIS, ATS, and adjacent tools to connect systems, eliminate manual work, and create AI-powered workflows that free our People team to focus on high-value partnership.
  • If you have built People tech stacks before — not just administered them — and can demonstrate the automations and integrations you have personally shipped, we want to hear from you.
  • This position sits at the intersection of People and technology, requiring strong operational credibility, deep technical fluency with modern HR tooling, and commercial pragmatism.

What you will do:

  • People Technology & Automation (your primary focus):
    • Build and maintain workflow automations across People tools (e.g. HiBob, Ashby, Google Workspace, Slack), eliminating manual hand-offs and data re-entry.
    • Design and implement AI-powered processes and responses across the employee lifecycle using tools such as Claude and similar platforms.
    • Create and maintain self-serve systems that enable employees and managers to get fast, accurate answers without routing everything through the People team.
    • Enhance our reporting and analytics layer to support decision-making and business planning.
  • People Operating System & Compliance:
    • Maintain and improve a compliant, accurate, and efficient HRIS.
    • Develop and operationalise standard operating procedures for HR activities.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant global and local employment laws and regulations.
    • Support internal and external HR audits with data and process documentation.

What you will achieve in the first 6 months:

  • Linked our core operating systems to remove manual data flows.
  • Increased data visibility of high impact people metrics through automation and self-serve.
  • Partnered with the people team to leverage a reliable knowledge base for employee and manager self-serve.
  • Unlocked time for the people team and all Elliptites through automations.
  • Developed a plan to scale people tech and operations for the medium term.

You will be a great fit here if you:

  • Share our values and seek to have impact.
  • Are a builder and owner.
  • Seek out solutions with an AI first mindset; you’ll already be using AI tools in your work and experimenting to deliver the best outcomes.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • First-hand experience using AI tools, e.g. Claude, to build or enhance processes.
  • A demonstrated track record of building within technology systems, not just using them.
  • Experience connecting tools via native integrations, middleware (e.g. Zapier, Make, or similar), or API configuration.
  • An eye for the employee experience: you build technology that feels human, reduces friction, and creates trust.
  • Strong communication skills.

Bonus Points for:

  • Having learnt from your experiences on the best approaches through trial and error; iterating as you go.
  • Experience of applying these experiences specifically within a People team.
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes, employment law, and compliance.

Job Benefits:

  • Hybrid working and the option to work from almost anywhere for up to 90 days per year.
  • £500 Remote working budget to set up your home office space.
  • $1,000 Learning & Development budget to use on anything (agreed with your manager) that contributes to your growth and development.
  • 25 days of annual leave + bank holidays. An extra day for your birthday.
  • Enhanced parental leave: 16 weeks fully-paid leave for eligible employees.
  • Private Health Insurance – we use Vitality!
  • Full access to Spill Mental Health Support.
  • Life Assurance: cover for 4 times your salary to your beneficiaries.
  • £100 Crypto for you!
  • Cycle to Work Scheme.
