About Us
We are an established independent timber merchant supplying quality timber and timber products to trade and retail customers. We pride ourselves on providing expert advice, reliable service and building long-term relationships with our customers. We are looking for an enthusiastic Internal Sales Person to join our branch team.
The Role
This is a customer-focused sales role where you'll be responsible for developing relationships with existing and new customers, preparing quotations, processing orders and helping customers find the right timber products for their projects. As part of a busy branch team, you'll also support operational activities when required, working alongside colleagues to ensure the branch continues to deliver excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with trade and retail customers.
- Handle telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries professionally.
- Prepare accurate quotations and proactively follow them up.
- Process customer orders efficiently and accurately.
- Identify opportunities to increase sales and maximise customer spend.
- Contact existing and inactive customers to generate new business.
- Provide product knowledge and technical advice on timber and timber products.
- Deliver excellent after-sales service and resolve customer queries.
Branch Support
- Assist with transport planning and coordinating customer deliveries when required.
- Raise purchase orders and liaise with suppliers.
- Support stock management and maintain accurate stock records.
- Ensure Chain of Custody procedures and documentation are maintained.
- Follow and promote Health & Safety procedures across the branch.
- Work closely with the warehouse and yard teams to ensure customer orders are fulfilled efficiently.
- Provide general operational support to help the branch meet customer expectations.
About You
You'll ideally have:
- Experience in internal sales within a timber merchant, builders' merchant or related industry.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A good understanding of timber products or a willingness to develop your product knowledge.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Good IT skills and experience using sales or merchanting systems.
- A positive, flexible attitude and a willingness to support colleagues across the branch.
