About Elliotts

Elliotts is an independent builders' merchant serving customers across the South of England. Founded in 1842, we remain family owned and focused on doing things properly. We keep things straightforward - know our customers, work safely, deliver reliably, and support each other as a team. Decisions are made locally, close to the work. The business is led by Tom, the great-great-great grandson of the founder. That long-term, hands-on approach shapes how we operate and how we look after our people. Many of our team build long careers here. It's a stable, supportive environment where people take pride in their work and back each other day to day.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Elliotts in a newly created senior leadership role, taking full ownership of one of our largest and most strategically important operations. This isn't a traditional Branch Manager role. It's an opportunity to lead a large, multi-function business with significant commercial potential, bringing together several operational areas into one high-performing operation. We're looking for a commercially minded leader who enjoys building great teams, improving performance and driving sustainable growth. You’ll lead a team of managers across multiple functions, setting the direction for the site while creating a culture where people work together to deliver outstanding service and commercial results. With full accountability for performance, you’ll have the autonomy to make decisions, improve efficiency, identify opportunities for growth and shape the future of the operation. Success in this role will come from your ability to lead through others, bring people together and balance commercial performance with operational excellence.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead and develop a team of managers across multiple operational functions.
  • Take full commercial ownership of a large, complex operation with significant revenue potential.
  • Drive sales growth, profitability and operational performance.
  • Create one high-performing culture across the site.
  • Improve processes, remove barriers and ensure teams work together effectively.
  • Identify opportunities to grow revenue, improve customer service and maximise efficiency.
  • Build strong relationships across the wider business.

About you

You’ll be an experienced senior leader who enjoys taking ownership and delivering results. You’ll have:

  • Proven experience leading large operational teams through other managers.
  • Strong commercial awareness with P&L responsibility.
  • The ability to influence, inspire and unite different teams behind a common goal.
  • Confidence to make decisions and take accountability.
  • A track record of improving business performance and driving growth.

Experience within building materials, builders' merchants, distribution or retail would be an advantage, but we’re equally interested in exceptional leaders from other commercial sectors.

What’s in it for you?

  • Annual profit share scheme and Manager bonus
  • Private healthcare
  • Company car or car allowance
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • 24/7 wellbeing support
  • Enhanced Family leave - Maternity up to 6 months full pay, Paternity up to 4 weeks full pay
  • Unlimited training – sky’s the limit
  • Staff discounts
  • Christmas Hamper
  • Monthly Pizza on us
